Ethanol-Free Gas Near Me: A Boater's Guide to St. Pete & Clearwater

If you keep a boat in St. Pete or Clearwater and you're searching for ethanol free gas near me, the answer is usually on the water. Nearly every fuel dock around the bay sells ethanol-free gasoline, most often as REC 90. And if you'd rather not make the run at all, it can come to your slip.

The short version: St. Petersburg has the most fuel docks, from the downtown basins to Gulfport and Tierra Verde. Clearwater boaters have fewer options this fall, because the Clearwater Beach Marina fuel dock is out of service during its rebuild. Street stations with ethanol-free gas are listed at the end, for trailer boats and gas cans.

Marina Fuel Docks With REC 90 in St. Pete & Clearwater

Ethanol-free is standard at the fuel docks. All but one dock in the directory below lists its gasoline as ethanol-free. If REC 90 is new to you, our REC 90 guide covers what's in it and when it matters.

The directory pulls each dock's latest public gas price from Waterway Guide and the marinas' own sites, with its date. It uses the same dock data as our Tampa Bay fuel price comparison, which updates daily, and adds a few docks in Tarpon Springs and Apollo Beach. Dock prices move with the wholesale market, so call for the day's number, the hours and whether the pump sells to boats that don't keep a slip there.

Clearwater: the city fuel dock is down

The fuel dock at the city's Clearwater Beach Marina is out of service during the marina rebuild. On October 21, 2026, the city's marina page said the new fuel dock wasn't operational, a temporary one was being installed and no transient or day docks were available. That page still gives an August 2026 completion date, so call the marina office before you count on it.

Until it reopens, the nearest docks we know of are Indian Springs Marina in Largo, south along the Intracoastal, and Home Port and Marino's marinas in Palm Harbor, to the north. Indian Springs is in our price data, and pure-gas.org lists ethanol-free gas at the two Palm Harbor docks.

Skip the Dock Run: REC 90 Delivered to Your Slip

A fuel dock sells boat-ready gas, and you pump it straight into the tank. You pay for it in the run over and back, the fuel you burn getting there, the wait on a busy weekend morning and whatever price is posted that day. It works best when a dock is on your way out.

How to Make Sure the Fuel Is Actually Ethanol-Free

At a fuel dock, ethanol-free is the norm, but the label is still what tells you what's in the nozzle. It matters even more at a street pump, where several blends share one island.

• Look for the words. Ethanol-free pumps say "Ethanol Free," "E0" (zero ethanol), "Non-Ethanol," "Recreation Fuel" or "REC 90." A green handle or a separate island proves nothing by itself.
• Ignore the number on the button. E15 (15% ethanol) is often sold as "Unleaded 88", and the 88 is octane, not ethanol. Pumps that sell E15 must carry an orange-and-black EPA warning label, and the EPA says E15 can't be used in boats.
• Match the octane to your owner's manual. REC 90 is 90 octane, and most street E0 in Pinellas is 89 or 90. If your manual allows 87, either one meets it. Ethanol-free 93 is another story: the fuel docks sell REC 90, not premium, and only two Pinellas street stations list ethanol-free 93 (McMullen Oil in Clearwater and Murphy USA in Pinellas Park). If your engine calls for premium, call ahead, and check your manual for what it allows if you can't find E0 at that octane.
• Test the fuel if you're unsure. With an inexpensive kit from a marine store, you shake a fuel sample with water, and the water layer grows if there's ethanol in it.

Trailer Boats and Gas Cans: Ethanol-Free Gas Stations in Pinellas

If your boat lives on a trailer, or you're filling cans for a skiff or a jet ski, a street station is often cheaper per gallon. Pure-gas.org, the crowdsourced list of stations that sell gasoline with no ethanol, shows about 30 street stations in Pinellas County, plus several marinas, and more than 30 on the Hillsborough side. These are a dozen of the handiest for St. Pete and Clearwater boaters.

Listings were pulled from pure-gas.org on October 21, 2026. The list runs on reports from drivers and boaters, and stations drop E0 without telling anyone, so a search for "ethanol free gas near me" can still pin a pump that's gone. Call ahead, especially for the two 93-octane listings, the only ethanol-free premium we found in the county.

Cans add up fast on a bigger boat. A full 5-gallon can weighs more than 30 pounds, so a 60-gallon fill means a dozen cans down the dock. Check your marina's rules on fueling from cans at the slip, too.

For a boat in the water, the answer to "ethanol free gas near me" is a fuel dock or your own slip. St. Pete has plenty of REC 90 docks, and Clearwater has fewer while the city dock is down. Street stations are the fallback for trailer boats and cans.
